USAWE 2024 Eastern Zone Championship

October 3rd through 6th, 2024

(October 3, 2024 – Check-in and Veterinarian Inspections)

Join us for an unforgettable event celebrating the skill, precision, and elegance of Working Equitation. Witness top competitors from across the Eastern Zone and beyond as they showcase their talents in this prestigious championship.

This event promises thrilling competitions, including dressage, ease of handling, speed, and cow trials. Don’t miss the chance to see top riders and horses in action, and enjoy a weekend full of equestrian excellence.

All current USAWE members are eligible to compete in a championship show. A horse-rider combination must earn a combined average of 58% or higher in Dressage and EOH (L1-L7) and successfully complete the Speed trial (L2-L7) at a minimum of two USAWE licensed shows to qualify to compete in a championship show.

For the 2024 competition year, the qualifying period is January 1, 2023, through the show entry deadline in 2024.

At least one of the qualifying scores must be earned during the current competition year.

Qualifying scores must have been earned at the level being entered.

Youth Championship Scholarship

WHO: Youth Competitors planning to attend Championships

WHAT: Scholarship is $250 towards the cost of entry fees

WHEN: Submit application by September 1st

WHY: USAWE Youth Committee supported by anonymous donations want to encourage and support youth at championship events. The scholarship intends to provide financial support to those youth who might not otherwise be able to afford to participate

Schedule

The 2024 USAWE Eastern Zone Championship Show and the Working Equitation Show at Three Bulls will be run concurrently.

(schedule is subject to change)

Thursday, October 3
    • 9:00 AM – Competitors may begin Check In
    • 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Veterinary Inspections (for Championship Competitors only)
    • 6:00 PM – Competitor’s Briefing and Welcome Reception
Friday, October 4
    • 8:00 AM – Dressage Trial (L1-L7)
    • 6:00 PM – Progressive Barn Party
Saturday, October 5
    • 8:00 AM – L1-L7 Ease of Handling Course Walk
    • 8:45 AM – L1-L7 Ease of Handling Trial
Sunday, October 6
    • 8:00 AM – Speed Course Walk
    • 8:30 AM – Speed Trial
    • 12:30 PM – Cattle Trial
    • 3:00 PM – Awards Ceremony

Lunch Breaks will be scheduled as close to noon as possible each day.

Special Activities

Progressive Barn Party

Friday, October 4, 6:00 PM.
Please join us, in the barn, Friday evening for a chance to kick back, relax, and visit with old and new friends.
Please bring your favorite dish and/or dessert to share with the others for a fun night.

Scavenger Hunt

There will be two items hidden around the show grounds; one for the youth (stuffed bull) and one for adults (stuffed horse).
Once the items are found, just bring them to the Show Office to receive your prize.
The next day the items will be hidden in a new location for more seeking fun.

Sportsmanship Award

Competitors will vote throughout the weekend for the person they feel exhibits kindness to all, great sportsmanship, excellent horsemanship, and is encouraging and helpful to others.
A box will be available in the Show Office for the ballots.
A special award will be presented at the Awards Ceremony.

Hobby Horse Speed Course

Please bring an already-made Hobby Horse to this fun-filled event.
There will be a Speed course for each “horse/rider team” to maneuver as quickly as possible.
“Rides” will be timed and rosettes will be awarded to the top 5 teams.
Prizes will be awarded to the first and second-place winners.

Silent Auction

There will be a Silent Auction held in the Main barn across the aisle from the Show Office.
Silent bidding will open Friday, October 4 at 9:00 AM and will stay open until Saturday, October 5 at 6:00 PM.
Winners will be revealed Saturday, October 5 at 6:00 PM.
Donations of new or like new items, as well as gift baskets, are gladly welcome.

AO Basket Auction

There will be an Affiliate Organization Basket Auction held in the Main barn, next to the Silent Auction.
Silent bidding will open Friday, October 4 at 9:00 AM and will stay open until Saturday, October 5 at 6:00 PM.
Winners will be revealed Saturday, October 5 at 6:00 PM.
Basket donations from any USAWE Affiliate Organizations are greatly appreciated.
Use your imagination to create a basket to be bid on.

Awards Ceremony

The Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 6 as close to 3:00 PM as possible.
Winners will be recognized and awarded their rosettes and prizes.
We ask that all Champions and Reserve Champions and their horses (either in hand or under saddle) be present for photos.
