USAWE at BreyerFest 2024!

We are excited that USA Working Equitation is being represented at BreyerFest 2024 “Against All Odds” at the Kentucky Horse Park, July 12-14, 2024.

Make plans to come visit the USAWE booth, watch our demonstration, or even volunteer!

To make this event a success, we invite you to volunteer to help us.

If you would like to give in another way, you have the option of making a tax-deductible donation to our Youth Development Fund or the Major Event Demonstrations and Booths Fund.

All donations received by the Major Event Demonstration Teams and Booths Fund through July 30, 2024, will be used for expenses related to BreyerFest and USPC Championships.

Donations made to the Youth Development Fund can be earmarked for these events by noting your wishes when making your donation.

USAWE at US Pony Club Championships 2024! 

Volunteers and Donations Needed

USAWE is dedicated to developing our relationship with the United States Pony Clubs and sharing the sport of Working Equitation with youth across the country.

During Pony Club Championships, July 16-22, 2024, USAWE will host an informative booth on the concourse at the Kentucky Horse Park.

On Sunday and Monday, July 21st and 22nd, there will be a lunchtime demonstration for pony clubbers in the Walnut Arena.

Riders Holly Linz and Cera Olson will join Landyn Riddle in this presentation.

USAWE is seeking donations to help with costs associated with our presence at this event, as well as people who can help at the booth during the week.

If you can volunteer, or help in another way please sign up to volunteer or make a contribution.

USAWE Youth

USAWE has an amazing support network and programs for youth interested in Working Equitation.

 

Youth Membership

USAWE has a specific membership for Youth (7-17 years old).

    • Membership fees are $41.  The entire fee goes back to youth funding and programs.
    • Youth members are often given discounts at most clinics and shows.
    • Youth can compete in either the youth division OR the open division at a specified level for the year.
    • Youth members receive fun incentive items each year.

Youth Awards

USAWE has a specific awards for Youth (7-17 years old).

    • Regional High Point Awards
    • National High Point Awards
    • National High Score Awards

An exciting new addition to add for the youth in 2024 – a HIGH SCORE belt buckle! This belt buckle will be awarded to the highest average combination of Dressage and Ease of Handling Score across the Nation. The average score will come from a rated USAWE Working Equitation Show in 2024, any level. Best of luck Youth Riders!

Youth Education Grant

WHO: USAWE Youth members

WHAT:  $125 grant to help defray the costs of attending an educational event.

WHEN: Apply at least 3 weeks before the event.

WHY: To provide youth the opportunity to enhance and learn skills to help them become more successful riders within USAWE. This grant is intended to invest in the youth and have the youth give back to USAWE. The grant program’s goal is to allow youth to attend seminars, clinics, and shows related to Working  Equitation that are approved by the Youth Development Committee (YDC); whether mounted or unmounted.

What is the Youth Educational Grant?

This grant is to provide youth some financial opportunity to enhance and learn skills to help them become more successful riders within USAWE.

What events can this grant be used for?

This grant covers seminars, clinics, and shows related to Working Equitation that are approved by the Youth Development Committee (YDC); whether mounted or unmounted.

Who can apply for this grant?

Applicants must be current USAWE YOUTH members in good standing. They must have shown in a Working Equitation schooling show or USAWE licensed show within the last 12 months.

How much is the grant and how many youth can apply?

There are 40 grants available at $125 each. Youth are eligible for one grant a year.

What documentation is needed when I apply?

Applicants must provide verification of the intended event. They also must provide evidence of participation in a Working Equitation schooling show or USAWE licensed show within the last 12 months. Upon application, Youth must provide a letter of recommendation from someone associated within USAWE that is not a relative of the applicant.

When can I apply?

Apply as early as you can, but at least 3 weeks before the event starts.  We need 3 weeks to process your application.  Applications that are received less than 3 weeks before the start of the event will not be approved.

Where do I apply?

You can apply using the Youth Educational Grant Application Form located just above this section.

What is required of me if I am selected?

Recipients must demonstrate exceptional behavior at the event with proper horse and rider turnout and appropriate attire for the event. Recipients are required to make prior arrangements with the event manager/host and volunteer for 1 hour at the event. Each grant recipient is encouraged, not required, to submit a photo and short write up about their experience of the event and submit to the Youth Development Committee Chair.

How do I receive the grant money?

After an application is approved by the Youth Development Committee, the applicant will attend the grant approved event, meet all grant recipient criteria, submit required post event documentation, then will be awarded the $125 through the processing of an authorized Expenditure Reimbursement Request form. The reimbursement request form will be provided by the Youth Development Committee, and the requestor will email the completed Request form back to the YDC for processing.  A check for $125 will be mailed.  Allow 30 days for processing after all documentation has been received by the YDC.

Youth Championship Scholarship

WHO: Youth Competitors planning to attend Championships

WHAT: Scholarship to cover the cost of entry fees

WHEN: Submit application by September 1st

WHY: USAWE Youth Committee supported by anonymous donations want to encourage and support youth at championship events. It is the intention of the scholarship to provide financial support to those youth who might not otherwise be able to afford to participate

Youth Championship Scholarship FAQ

What is the scholarship?

This scholarship is a Youth entry fee assistance program. Accepted youth will have their entry fees to their Zone Championship show paid to the show producer. Stalls, transportation, and other expenditures will still be the responsibility of the competitor.

Who can apply for the scholarship?

  • Members who are designated and verified as “Youth” competitors 17 and under.
  • Youth members who need entry fee assistance who would otherwise not be able to compete in the championship show.
  • Youth members who wish to compete at a Zone Championship in that competition year.

Who determines who gets the scholarships?

The Youth Development Committee will make the decisions pertaining to the youth scholarship.

Youth entries to championship shows are not automatically given the scholarship. An application is required.

Scholarship monies will only be issued to one championship show, per applicant, per competition year.

USAWE is thankful for this scholarship fund made possible by an anonymous donor.

Future donations will support our entire youth development program.
