REGION 5

The USAWE 2021 Show Season results were released just a couple of weeks ago, which included National, Regional and Breed Awards. Congratulations again to all on a successful year! Region 5 has so much to be proud of and represented well!
Our USAWE Annual Member meeting was also held on February 5. The meeting covered many topics including reports from the Competitions, Licensed Officials, Awards and Membership Committees. Thank you to our members who attended! During this meeting, 2022 Zone Championships were discussed and include:
- Central Zone – October 20-23, Fairgrounds – Hutchinson KS
- Eastern Zone – November 3-6, Three Bulls, LLC – Bulls Gap, TN
- Western Zone – December 8-11, WestWorld – Scottsdale, AZ
The Central Zone Championship has both a FaceBook Page and a website: https://usawecentral22.com/. Be sure to like and follow both for updates! Start your planning, it is going to be a great event!
During the Member meeting, we also talked about Affiliate Organizations (AO’s). USAWE offers independent local organizations involved in WE the opportunity to be officially recognized as AO’s. AO’s are crucial to growth and serve as a learning resource to individuals, hosting and organizing events. Region 5 is fortunate to have many AO’s including: Fox Valley Saddle Association (Illinois), KarMik Acres, Inc. (Illinois), Alex Tyson Horsemanship (Michigan), Working Equitation Minnesota (Minnesota), Classical Attraction Dressage Society (Ohio), The Sunrise Ranch (Wisconsin) and Kemp Horsemanship (Wisconsin).
A very special Welcome to Adrienne Dymesich and The Sunrise Ranch out of Mason, Wisconsin as our newest AO! Details on each AO can be found on the USAWE page here.
Many shows are slotted for the year already, with several offering cattle phases! Remember – I am always happy to share your event via the Region 5 Facebook page; you can message the Region 5 page directly for this. A full list of events can be found on USAWE’s event page (https://usawe.org/events/). Since shows are just around the corner for us, now is a great time to verify your membership is accurately renewed and that your horse recording is correct. Please take the time to verify this information now so you are ready to show!
