The 2022 Western Zone Championship is to be held December 8-11th at the beautiful Westworld of Scottsdale, Arizona, nestled at the base of the McDowell Mountains. This will be a fun and active show with vendor space and warm atmosphere. The Winter Fun at Westworld Rated Show will be running concurrently, with a total of three competition arenas going at once. The Western Zone Championship is open to 90 rider spots, for all 7 levels of competition. The top working equitation riders and horses from all over the western USA are competing for awards and cash prizes. We are honored to have Fiona Price-Jones, an international WAWE judge, Doreen Atkinson and Nicole Chastain Price, S Judges and Barbara Price and Cari Shwartz, R Judges. The show will be overseen by technical delegates Jeanne Bond and Emily Kemp. Tentative schedule is December 8th, check-in and veterinary inspection, followed by the Dressage phase on December 9th. Ease of Handling will run December 10th, with Speed and Cattle Trials to follow on December 11th. The award ceremony will be 4:30pm on Sunday for The Zone Championship, Cattle Trial, and AZWEC Winter Fun at Scottsdale Show. Several breed organizations have sponsored High Point awards and the show will run a silent auction that will include a few of the Ease of Handling obstacles going home with the lucky auction winners. The show will have vendors and vendor spaces available, as well as a competitor social Thursday evening to help competitors settle in and meet each other. Current sponsors include Victory Wealth Services, 4 Star Ranch and Susan Hapak, Coudelaria Estelar and Amy Star, Chastain Training with Nicole Chastain Price, Overman Designs out of Payson, AZ, United States Lusitano Association, Summer Wind Marchadors with Lynn Kelly, Radda Ranch, Cohesive Horsemanship with Tessa Nicolet, Manuel Trigo and Leslie Brekke. The official competition hotel is Holiday Inn, Scottsdale Airport Location.

The support and camaraderie of the competitors from across the Western Zone states is already highly visible, we are looking forward to the show, friendship, and beauty of the Working Equitation competition in December.
