REGION 6

By: Kimberly Hillyer

Hello Region 6 members!

It’s been a busy summer so far this year. Our region will have hosted 11 Rated USAWE shows this year so far as we close out the month of August! There have been shows in VA, NJ VT, NH, and NY. On September 17 – 19, NEWE will be hosting the Regional Championships and A-rated show for Region 6, to be held in Centre Hall, PA. Qualified riders and horses will be competing in the Regional Championships, and anyone else is eligible to show in the A-rated portion of the show. If you or anyone you know is interested in a sponsorship opportunity for the Regional Championships, contact newenglandworkingequitation@gmail.com. I’m sure there are plenty of volunteer opportunities at the Regional Championship show as well. Contact NEWE and let them know you are interested. There will also be 1 additional B-rated show in October in MD at Oak Springs Equestrian. Check out our Affiliate organizations to see what is being offered.

Welcome to the newest Region 6 Affiliate Organization. Synergy Working Equitation in Bloomfield, NY. Check out their Facebook page for details.

Check in with your closest AO to see what is going on. Lots of Clinics and play days being offered as well as schooling shows. As an Affiliate Organization, you can post your activities on the USAWE calendar, and also on the USAWE Region 6 FB page. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at r6director@USAWE.org, and I will do what I can to help you.
Happy riding!

USAWE Logo design by Alexandra Crippen of Crippen Designs.

The logo represents the four trials of Working Equitation and highlights the diversity for which the sport is known in the United States.

  • The first image depicts a mule, being ridden in western tack and attire in the Dressage trial.
  • The second image showcases an Iberian horse in traditional Iberian tack and attire performing in the EOH trial.
  • The third image shows a horse of indeterminate breeding and a rider in English tack and attire, competing in the Speed trial.
  • Together, all three riders represent a team competing together in the Cattle trial. Although the cow is not shown directly, the three teammates are working in concert. The image is intended to elicit the feeling of excitement and movement as the team moves their designated cow toward the holding pen to the far right, off the page. (Think of it as a "silent cow", much as the letter "e" at the end of a word is often referred to as "the silent 'e'" in recognition of its existence without being read aloud).
