President’s Letter

By: Barbara Price

Dear USAWE Members,

The new year is upon us, and while it is only mid-January it’s wonderful to see all the exciting plans and activities underway throughout the USAWE organization. Apparently it takes more than a pandemic to stop this group!

Each of our seven regions are buzzing with news and upcoming activities for 2022. Be sure to keep an eye on the USAWE social media outlets and website for news and event announcements.

And, your regional director can answer questions regarding your region’s happenings, and assist with making new plans. Their contact information is on our website at https://usawe.org/corporate/board-of-directors/.

It’s very exciting that we have two Zone Championship shows already approved and in early execution stages…both with Cattle Trials planned! The Western Zone Championship show, presented by the Arizona Working Equitation Club, will be held December 8-11, 2022 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, AZ. The Central Zone Championship show, presented by an organizing committee of 12 experienced WE managers and competitors, will be held October 21-24, 2022 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, KS. Stay tuned for more details to come about the 2022 Zone Championship shows.

USAWE committees are a very important part of our organization’s daily operations; I encourage members to check out the committee listing on our website. Currently we have 11 official committees staffed by experienced and dedicated members. If you have skills you can lend to help our organization grow, please reach out and let us know. Presently, we have openings on the Membership and Financial Oversight committees.

Our newest committee, Youth Development, headed by Alex Tyson with members Olga Hendrickson, Melissa Main, Kasey Riddle and Shannon Rowe will play a key role in getting our youth outreach and activities going. Supporting and developing young WE riders is an integral part of my 3-prong USAWE strategic mission this year, and I’m so pleased to have this new committee staffed and ready to roll.

Please remember, USAWE is a volunteer-only organization. If you’d like to serve in some capacity, please contact me, your regional director, or a committee chair. There are many opportunities and ways to assist our organization, and by extension, our sport.

Work hard. Play hard. And enjoy every moment!

With much appreciation,

Barbara Price
USAWE President 2022
