President’s Letter

Dear USAWE Members,
Most of us were universal in our feeling that 2020 couldn’t end soon enough. Like many of you, I felt some optimism while ushering in the new year and had the belief that 2021 would be better. While it’s early in the year and perhaps too soon to say for sure, I’m cautiously optimistic.

The days are getting a little bit longer and warm weather is right around the corner (despite the recent snow in Texas). Given the number of shows being scheduled so far this year many of you seem to be optimistic as well.

Meanwhile, our committees continue to be hard at work developing and implementing new programs and putting finishing touches on revitalized programs that are necessary for the day-to-day functioning of our organization. Board and committee members have spent countless hours on Zoom meetings discussing, tweaking, and finalizing their projects to bring you the very best programs possible.

The old adage that two heads are better than one is certainly fitting. In fact, five or six heads is probably better than two. I have had the privilege of sitting in on some of these meetings and in all cases the finished product was better than the original. I am impressed by the thought and consideration that everyone puts into the decision-making process.

There is still much to be done. As always, there are the mundane, day-to-day tasks of running an organization. There are additional committees that need to be filled. As we grow other needs will arise not yet foreseen. But we continue to have members who volunteer to serve on committees so there will be no difficulty in filling them – it’s simply a matter of finding the right place for the right person. Thank you for offering your time and your talent.
