REGION 6 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Cera Olson

I am Cera Olson and I have been riding for around 26 years. I started in eventing and Pony Club, graduating Pony Club with an H rating. Through college, I competed with the Oregon State Eventing Team. After graduation, I was commissioned into the US Army and moved to GA for my first duty station. I continued to train in classical dressage and enjoy foxhunting. The military brought me to VA and then to MD, where I finally separated, medically, after 10 years. After the military, I have continued to work in Cybersecurity. I am looking to start a doctoral program in the fall. 

I continued to ride and compete all through my military career, somehow accruing two horses along the way. I currently have a 19 year old thoroughbred named Joe with whom I compete in L3.  We are looking at moving up to L4 later this season. My second horse is a 4 year old Irish Sporthorse mare out of a Belgian Warmblood I owned previously. She will begin competing in L1 this year and we are really looking forward to watching her grow. 

I began WE in 2022. It has been an incredible experience and helped Joe stay more sound as we transitioned from eventing. My favorite obstacle is the gate for EOH but my favorite phase is speed. Joe and I love to go fast. 🙂 When we aren’t training, we enjoy trail rides and cross country schooling. Can’t wait to get a bank on course!  Beyond my horses, I have two dogs, Whistler and Anduin. I enjoy languages, board games, and designing and making costumes. 

I became the Region 6 Director in January 2024. I really enjoy reaching out and working with our members to build up the resources within USAWE and help work towards individual and collective goals. 

Cera Olson is currently serving as Region 6 Director. Her term runs through November 2024. She is also a member of the Marketing and Promotions Committee and serves as its Alliances Liasson.
