WI: Sunrise Ranch Fall WE Show #1 and Cattle Trial

Event Information

Don’t miss out on the 2022 Fall Working Equitation Licenced Shows at the Sunrise Ranch. For this weekend we are flying in the world-renowned W.E. judge Rebecca Algar originally from Australia, now head trainer at El Lobo Ranch at Ocala, Florida.

Rebecca Algar has been active in Working Equitation since its debut in the United States nearly ten years ago and has risen to the top in this sport as both a comparator and judge.

Please scroll to the bottom of this post for her fascinating full bio! It is an honor to have an equestrian of this expertise and experience come judge our fall WE shows and instruct on the Friday prior!

Please note, the 2022 Sunrise Ranch Fall Working Equitation shows are two full separate events, one on Saturday, and one on Sunday. We offer this specifically for those wanting to make the most of the weekend and compete both days.

Besides the standard Ease of Handling obstacle course, Dressage test, and Speed Challenge, we will be offering the Cattle Trial each day. Here at the Sunrise Ranch, we are proud of our Scottish Highland herd and enthusiastic to be supporting the skill of working cows from horseback by offering this part of Working Equitation at our shows.

Aside from some really unique awards for each level, we are donating one magnificent Long-horned scull art piece to the horse and rider team showing the highest level of excellence in partnership as evaluated by the judge from both days’ competition! See the comments on this post for some photos of this award.

We have asked Rebecca Algar to come a day early so that we can offer group lessons on Friday. Don’t miss this chance to give you and your horse an opportunity to practice with us on excellence in the arenas under Rebecca’s instruction before the weekend shows!

We are limiting the number of entries for these shows, so be sure to contact us soon to get your spot reserved! The Google form we have created will clearly provide all the details, as well as allow you to tailor your weekend to your goals and needs.

USAWE Logo design by Alexandra Crippen of Crippen Designs.

The logo represents the four trials of Working Equitation and highlights the diversity for which the sport is known in the United States.

  • The first image depicts a mule, being ridden in western tack and attire in the Dressage trial.
  • The second image showcases an Iberian horse in traditional Iberian tack and attire performing in the EOH trial.
  • The third image shows a horse of indeterminate breeding and a rider in English tack and attire, competing in the Speed trial.
  • Together, all three riders represent a team competing together in the Cattle trial. Although the cow is not shown directly, the three teammates are working in concert. The image is intended to elicit the feeling of excitement and movement as the team moves their designated cow toward the holding pen to the far right, off the page. (Think of it as a "silent cow", much as the letter "e" at the end of a word is often referred to as "the silent 'e'" in recognition of its existence without being read aloud).
