REGION 1

By: Kristine Strasburger

There’s not much news to report from Region 1 other than we are all expectantly awaiting the results of the election to see who the new Region 1 Director is going to be.  All three candidates for the position are super gals who have a lot to offer.  I can’t wait to see who is going to end up the winner!

We’ve got some exciting times ahead as the various Affiliate Organizations and Show Organizers get their events on the books for the 2022 season.  We’re all chomping at the bit to get our calendars fleshed out.

If you would like to see a Working Equitation event near you, why not hire one of our fantastic Judges, Technical Delegates, Coaches or other knowledgeable members and host something yourself?  Sometimes all it takes is an idea and a phone call!  You can find the list of USAWE Licensed Officials here.  And you can check out our Coaches Network here.  Don’t forget, all of our USAWE Affiliate Organizations are a great resource as well.

Region 1 Reminders

Don’t forget to check out the USAWE Calendar for events near you.  New events are added all the time, so check back often.

Also, check the USAWE Affiliate Organizations page to find an AO near you.  Don’t have an Affiliate Organization near you?  Why don’t you get some friends together and form one?  Don’t have any friends? (just kidding)  Individuals can also apply to become an Affiliate Organization.  The USAWE Affiliate Organization Program has a new email address:  affiliateorganizations@usawe.org

We can all do something to help Working Equitation grow in the United States.  What can you do to help?  Connect with me if you need support.  That’s what I’m here for.

Until next time, happy riding!

USAWE Logo design by Alexandra Crippen of Crippen Designs.

The logo represents the four trials of Working Equitation and highlights the diversity for which the sport is known in the United States.

  • The first image depicts a mule, being ridden in western tack and attire in the Dressage trial.
  • The second image showcases an Iberian horse in traditional Iberian tack and attire performing in the EOH trial.
  • The third image shows a horse of indeterminate breeding and a rider in English tack and attire, competing in the Speed trial.
  • Together, all three riders represent a team competing together in the Cattle trial. Although the cow is not shown directly, the three teammates are working in concert. The image is intended to elicit the feeling of excitement and movement as the team moves their designated cow toward the holding pen to the far right, off the page. (Think of it as a "silent cow", much as the letter "e" at the end of a word is often referred to as "the silent 'e'" in recognition of its existence without being read aloud).
