REGION 2 Director — Glynna Hoekstra
Welcome Spring – we’ve been waiting for you!
Old Man Winter isn’t quite done with us here in Region 2, but our members won’t let that keep them from a busy and productive calendar. Here are a few highlights:
The Wine Country Classic team held their Mother of All Dragons Working Equitation Show in Santa Clarita. A great group of riders came out to enjoy the beautiful weather between storms. Rising Phoenix Equestrian is set to host a Clinic & Schooling Show on March 22 & 23rd in Brea, CA. On March 29th & 30th, Kathleen Elliott Equestrian and Mary Young will join forces for a Clinic and Schooling Show in Murrieta, while Barbara Price and I are hosting an Introduction to Working Equitation Clinic followed by a Schooling Show with Judge Sarah Pinney. Arizona group AZWEC hosted a Course Design class with Judge Amy Star, and has a great calendar lined up filled with clinics, schooling and rated shows. El Campeon Farms in beautiful Thousand Oaks, CA announced a six show buckle series starting in April. Bridlewood Equestrian Center in Copperopolis hosted several clinics and playdays with USAWE Professional Instructor Jessica Mosbaugh, who also has a busy schedule this year.

Your Board of Directors has been busy reviewing our Bylaws for potential updates, updating and cleaning up our back of house website and business functions. These important updates will ensure our business can run smoothly so we can focus on organizational growth and health. The International Committee is developing criteria for team selection for the 2026 WAWE World Championship. Our Committees are the heartbeat of the organization, handling all aspects of the organization, Rules, Competitions, Affiliate Organizations, Financial Oversight, Marketing, Membership and Youth Development just to name a few. We encourage ALL members to bring their unique talents and skills to the organization and volunteer! If you have a special interest in any area of the organization please reach out and see where your unique skills can be used.
As we roll into Spring, we are encouraged by the greening of grass and the budbreak on our favorite trees. Many of our horses are fresh and ready for a great season of competition and camaraderie, the cornerstones of Working Equitation. I hope you able to get out and RIDE, and I hope to see you at a USAWE event soon.
