President’s Letter
By: Doreen Artkison
Hello Dear WE Friends,
May is here and we have the most beautiful wildflowers. Texas is getting a lot of rain, some places are flooding and the lakes are overflowing. We are now officially out of a drought. Unfortunately, I did lose a lot of trees due to our 2-year drought. Hopefully, we will have a great hay crop this year, when it dries up.
May is also the time we honor our Mothers. Happy Mother’s Day to all you ladies, even if you only have fur babies.
The shows are really ramping up all over the country with clinics and schooling shows as well. The Professional Development Committee is working hard to recognize and support our Professional Instructors and trainers of Working Equitation. Check out the website to locate a USAWE professional in your area. The Licensed Officials Committee is gearing up for three calibration training sessions this year. Contact the LOC for more information. The International Committee will be seeking two new members for the committee. An application with job descriptions will be submitted soon. Two (2) Train to Win clinics are also on the calendar for those wanting to attend.
The Marketing and Promotions Committee along with the Youth Committee are working hard to bring Working Equitation to the National Pony Club Championships and Breyer Fest. Volunteers are needed and welcomed to help man the booths. Contact either committee for more information. The Financial Oversight Committee (FOC) reported the finances to be accurate and well documented. Thank you to our wonderful Treasurer, Leesa Nero!
Watch for a membership survey to be published and to be sent out to our members to help the Strategic Planning Team develop strategies for reaching the goals of USAWE.
WAWE released the new regulations and the updated bylaws which will go into effect June 1, 2024. Go to the WAWE website for more details.
There are committees meeting every week to keep USAWE healthy and strong. I’m very proud of our many wonderful volunteers. Thank you all for your time, talents, and treasures.
See you soon at a show near you.
