We’ve put together some amazing training videos about scribing. Serving as a scribe in Working Equitation is a vital role that directly supports fair, accurate, and efficient judging. The scribe is the judge’s second set of hands and ears—responsible for recording scores, comments, and observations clearly and accurately while the class is in progress. A skilled scribe allows the judge to focus fully on evaluating the horse and rider, contributing to a smooth and professional competition environment.
For many people, scribing is their first experience working at the judge’s table, and it can feel fast-paced or intimidating at first. This training program is designed to remove that uncertainty. By understanding what is expected, learning the terminology used in Working Equitation, and practicing under realistic conditions, scribes can arrive at a show feeling prepared rather than stressed.
These materials are intended for:
New scribes with little or no prior experience
Experienced volunteers who want to improve accuracy and confidence
Organizers who want consistent, reliable scribing across shows
The goal of this training is not perfection, but clarity, consistency, and confidence. With preparation and practice, scribing becomes an engaging and rewarding way to contribute to the sport of Working Equitation.
