President’s Letter

The Championship shows are upon us!
USAWE has five Regional Championship shows either completed or in planning. Three of these shows also have WAWE Qualifying events being held at the same time. At least two regions are attracting Canadian riders due to the WAWE Qualifiers. These are some of the most difficult shows to produce, with show managers balancing the complexity and the costs vs the number of entries. In some regions, competitors are still actively seeking USAWE qualifying scores to be able to attend.
- October 3-6 Region 5 in Hampshire, IL
- October 10-12 Region 2 in Temecula, CA
- October 16-19 the Eastern Regions in Doswell, VA
- November 5-8 in Tyler, TX
Not all shows go on without a hitch, unfortunately. At the Region 1 Championship, a mistake was made, and one of the L7 riders was incorrectly disqualified at the rounding posts obstacle for a course error that they were in the process of correcting when they were rung out and not permitted to complete their EOH ride.
USAWE will be giving this competitor the opportunity to complete their ride, with scores for the obstacles they were not given the opportunity to complete, added to their scoresheet. The results will be recalculated during the R2 Championship, where a panel of judges will once again be present. Any placings and awards that the re-ride might alter will be corrected and redistributed.
One of the reasons USAWE has been so successful is the genuine camaraderie of our members and competitors. It is that trust and friendship that help us in difficult times when things don’t always go as planned. But we put our support behind doing the right thing and behind our fellow members and competitors.
A final note about elections. Candidates will be accepting or declining their nominations, and their candidate statements will be released to the website for your review. We also had the recent resignation of Cera Olson, so we will be seeking a Region 6 Director as well.
As always, contact me if you have any issues, accolades, complaints, or just to say hi at president@usawe.org.
