President’s Letter
By: Doreen Atkinson
Greetings to all and happy fall!
This Texan is extremely happy for under 100 degree weather finally! I hope this message find you healthy, happy and having fun with your horse!
We have so many exciting events happening in USAWE.
There will be two zone championships happening within the next month. One has an international competition held in Oregon at the western Zone Championships and the Easter Zone Championships in Tennessee is an international qualifying competition. Good luck to all at these championships. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend but I am pleased to see the enormous response to both competitions and know they will be exciting for everyone. I want to acknowledge and thank all of you who have spent countless hours planning and preparing for these events and all of you who will be volunteering your time to ensure the championships The friendships, camaraderie and fun are sure to be epic and I look forward to following along with all the videos and pictures that are sure to be shared!
The future continues to be bright for USAWE!
Elections are underway with the nominations and statements soon to be released from those accepting the nomination. I appreciate everyone who is participating in this process. The Rules Committee is working incorporating your feedback in next year’s rulebook revisions. The License Official Committee had a training event for the judges in Oregon in August, which was a might success. The attending judges furthered their education and knowledge through a testing process. USAWE is growing with new members each month. That’s also exciting news The Marketing Committee has a project to do a booth at the USLA conference and Iberian connection in Oecgtober where the international WE champion, Pedro Torres will be one of the featured speakers and clinicians. The Youth Committee is excited to announce WE is a featured organization oat the USPC Convention in January. More details to follow. I am so excited to see how WE in the US is becoming a household word!
I will be in Czech Republic attending the European WE championships by the time you get this newsletter. I hope to learn more about the standard criteria when judging WE and look forward to bringing this knowledge back to share with our licensed officials and with all of you.
Until next month – I hope you enjoy your rides and your horse.
