REGION 6
By: Cera Olsen — Region 6 Director
Hard to believe it is already the end of July. We have a WE demo in August at Penn State. Region 6 riders will be introducing WE to Penn State at their Ag Progress Days 12-14 Aug. Come out and support our Region!
Three Region 6 riders ventured out to Portugal in June to take lessons, expand upon their riding, and watch the Working Equitation at the National show in Cascais. Holly Linz, the USAWE Director at Large 2 was even interviewed about USAWE. It was a fantastic experience and gave them lots of new material to work on upon returning home.

Schaghticoke Shows
It’s no understatement to say that it rained absolutely all day Saturday for the first show. It started raining somewhere around midnight and was still raining at 9:30 PM! We were pleased that our judge arrived on time, and with a few modifications we were able to run dressage, EOH, and Speed in the indoor arena. Sunday we were able to move the EOH and Speed to the large outdoor arena. We experienced some wind challenges, but it was nice to be outside! There were nearly 20 competitors each day with some really talented riding to watch. Dover Saddlery in Albany sponsored the show, so we had some nice prizes to hand out.
July 13th
Newstead Equestrian Center Day of Lessons. Newstead sponsors NYSWE and holds learning events at their farm several times a year. A clinic/schooling show may be in the works this fall!
August 5th
9 AM – 2 PM. A one-day introduction to Working Equitation that will include background, rules, course walks, and mounted lessons. Lunch included.
In 2026 NYSWE is starting the planning for a licensed show in Central to Western NY.
KDCTA
KDCTA has a busy weekend coming up. We will have a table set up with promo materials for Dressage and Working Equitation during the 4-H Dressage show. July 18-20. On the 19th we have our WE schooling show in Alexandria, PA with Julie Lamberton judging, then on the 20th, back to the 4-H show to give working eq demo with Julie and her daughter and man the table for the rest of the day.
Aug 13th Holly Linz will be bringing 4 horses for a WE demo at Ag Progress Days, one of the largest Ag fairs on the east coast.
Looking forward to increasing awareness of WE here in Central PA!
