SUMMARY:IL: WE Clinic at Fox Valley Saddle Association
DESCRIPTION:In response to the incredible excitement our May clinic/competition combo has generated\, we’re delighted to offer another clinic/show combination at Fox Valley Saddle Association!\n\nPriority for the clinic will be for those new to the sport (for the purpose of this clinic\, defined as a horse/rider pair that has competed in 2 or fewer Working Equitation competitions). We’ll start by filling clinic spots with people who have limited (or no) experience in WE. After June 20\, we will fill remaining clinic spots with more experienced WE riders. The time stamp when your online entry is received will establish the order in which you’ll be added to the clinic spots as they become available.\n\nClinicians: \nJulie Alonzo has been actively involved in Working Equitation since 2010 and has competed at L1 – L5 on a variety of horses. She regularly travels to Portugal to enhance her knowledge of the sport and has attended multiple judge seminars taught by international WE judges. A USAWE Technical Delegate\, Julie has taught over 125 clinics in locations as distant as Australia and Canada as well as Alaska\, California\, Oregon\, Washington\, Idaho\, Montana\, Illinois\, Nebraska\, Louisiana\, New York\, Michigan\, Missouri\, Texas\, Utah\, and Florida.\n\nKristine Strasburger is a USAWE Technical Delegate and has taught Introductory Working Equitation clinics in Idaho\, Montana\, and Nebraska. She has competed in L1 and L2. She attended a four-day Judge Seminar taught by WAWE International Judge Antonio Vicente\, from Portugal in August of 2024 and will be spending 2 days at an Immersive Educational Event in Portugal this May\, where she’ll be learning from WAWE International Judges while watching a Portuguese WE competition\, before spending five days taking WE lessons at one of the most successful competitive WE barns in Portugal.\n\nClinic Structure: \n8 – 9 AM – Introductory Lecture in the Fox Valley Clubhouse – an overview of the sport and what judges are looking for.\n9:15 – 9:45 – On foot instruction on the obstacles (no horses yet)\n\n10 – 11 Group 1 Obstacles (4 people / 2 instructors)\n11 – 12 Group 2 Obstacles (4 people / 2 instructors)\n\n12 – 12:45 Lunch\n\n1 – 2 Group 3 Obstacles  (4 people / 2 instructors)\n2 – 3 Group 4 Obstacles  (4 people / 2 instructors)\n\n3:15 – 3:45 Group Lesson – Learn the L1 Dressage Test (8 people / 2 instructors)\n3:45 – 4:15 Group Lesson – Learn the L1 Dressage Test (8 people / 2 instructors)\n\nClinic Entry Fee:\n$75 per horse/rider\n$35 per stall (available from 5:30 pm Thursday). DESCRIPTION:To enter: https://forms.gle/ogFAgoaPW9wNdm6o8 \nJoin us this spring for two days of intensive learning\, followed by two one-day WE shows (which you can participate in as either a schooling ride to extend your learning from Camp or as a competitor\, to earn awards and points toward USAWE year-end and lifetime awards)\, hosted by Fox Valley Saddle Association\, an official Affiliate Organization of USAWE. \n\nNo prior Working Equitation experience necessary!\n\nOur primary goal in offering this event is to continue to grow the supportive and fun working equitation community in Region 5.\n\nWe are hoping to welcome our “old faithful” crew of regular participants AND draw in at least ten people who haven’t yet participated in our WE events at Fox Valley Saddle Association.\n\nIf you have ever thought about giving Working Equitation a try\, but were not sure how to get started\, THIS is your opportunity!\n\nIf you’re an “old faithful” who is looking forward to shaking off the cobwebs after a winter of less intensive involvement\, THIS is your opportunity!\n\nThe competitions will be licensed by USA Working Equitation\, but you can also participate as a schooling rider (no memberships needed). \nDraft Schedule  \nWednesday — Move in (ideally between 4:30 and 6 pm). 6:00 pm – Help set up obstacles in the indoor arena in preparation for Thursday.\nThursday – Small group obstacle lessons throughout the morning; Obstacle schooling in the afternoon; early evening lecture with video on judge expectations (with pizza!)\nFriday – Small group obstacle lessons throughout the morning; A focus on WE dressage in the afternoon.\nSaturday – Show #1\nSunday – Show #2\n\nCost for Camp + Show(s)\n$650 for the camp AND both days of showing (includes stabling Wednesday 4:30 PM – Sunday end of show)\n\nCost for Only Camp\n$400 for the camp alone (includes stabling Wednesday 4:30 PM – Friday 5 pm)\n\nCost for Only Show(s)\n$300 to participate in one day of showing without the camp (includes stabling the night prior to your show and the day of your show)\n$400 to participate in both days of showing (includes stabling from Friday 5 pm – Sunday end of show)\n\nTack Stall\n$25/day \nJust-for-fun Leadline modified Ease of Handling during show(s) (great for young riders and/or young horses!): $10\n\nBRING A FRIEND DISCOUNT FOR FULL CAMP & BOTH SHOWS\nRecruit a person who has never participated in a FVSA WE Show before\, and EACH of you will receive $100 discount for this event.
