COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE CHAIR

Are you passionate about organizing and running competitions? Do you have excellent leadership and organizational skills? If so, we have an exciting volunteer opportunity for you! USA Working Equitation is seeking a Competitions Committee Chair to oversee and manage all aspects of our Competitions Committee. As the Competitions Committee Chair, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and successful execution of the USAWE licensing process, and utilize effective and transparent communication with the board, committee members, committee chairs, and show managers. You will collaborate with various other committees to ensure that our competitions are fair, enjoyable, and efficient for all participants. This is a challenging and rewarding role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Competitions Committee, ensuring its effective functioning and adherence to the Policies and Procedures.
  • Develop and implement guidelines as needed, ensuring fair and consistent application of the competitions manual.
  • Oversee committee members responsible for licensing shows, and updating the license application database. Be familiar with the USAWE Licensed show licensing process.
  • Coordinate with relevant committees when required to update the Competitions License Application database deliverables.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote Competition Committee updates.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other committee chairs as needed.  
  • Coordinate and conduct competition committee monthly meetings, ensuring all committee members have the necessary information and ability to collaborate together as a team.
  • Monitor and evaluate post-competition reports and competitor feedback, identifying and addressing areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary. 
  • Use the TD Feedback reports and Competitor Feedback information to identify action items that will help show managers be more successful.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to show managers throughout the competition process, ensuring a positive experience for all.
  • Ensure compliance with the Competitions Manual.
  • Manage the Yellow Card process once one has been issued.
  • Manage and issue Rider Dispensation certificates.
  • Provide articles, or updates for members to be published in the monthly newsletter.
  • Monitor show deliverables to ensure they are submitted by the due date so results can be processed.
  • Work closely with the Rules committee, and the Results/awards committee.
